For this new phase of The Solar Project, we are proud to deepen our partnership with Milkywire and join forces with the award-winning organization Earthlife Africa, which is working to build a movement for energy democracy in South Africa. Earthlife Africa's project focuses on promoting renewable energy technology in local communities. The project also aims to increase access to information about renewable energy and its benefits for local communities in South Africa.
In March 2022, the Chimi Solar Project started in collaboration with Milkywire and Earthlife Africa - a nine-month project located in South Africa. By the end of the year, 100 solar panels and several solar charging stations will be installed across South Africa.
The aim is to combat the issue of energy poverty with solar energy in remote areas to promote local businesses with a strong focus on those led by women . Each pair of CHIMIs will help fund Earthlife Africa, which works with local communities towards the realization of clean, affordable electricity in South Africa.
